Blue I

The interpretation of the belt colors, which follows, is but one of many possible meanings.

The blue 1 belt also signifies both, the sea and the blue sky, but also has a black stripe running along the center of the belt. At this stage in training, the student should define his or her self-developed techniques. The instructor continues to feed the student with knowledge so he or she can continue to grow physically and mentally. A student who wears the blue 1 belt combines knowledge from "all" the previous color belts, and should show mastery of all the other belt colors up to this point. After all, there is a black stripe along the center of the belt which signifies mastery of previous techniques, another step closer to the BLACK belt.
