Brown

[ picture of brown taekwondo belt ]

The interpretation of the belt colors, which follows, is but one of many possible meanings.

The brown belt signifies the transformation of the student toward maturation and aging in the Martial Arts. At this stage in training the student should continue developing his or her own techniques. The student who wears the brown belt transforms from a seedling toward a matured tree in full bloom, adding additional branches of knowledge to support the well established commitment to reach higher goals. The brown belt also signifies higher rank and the wearer must exhibit flawless self-control, and show mastery of "all" previous techniques, another step closer to the BLACK belt.
