The interpretation of the belt color, which follows, is but one of many possible meanings.

The white belt signifies the beginning of the end. A white belt student is a beginner, void and without shape, beginning the journey as if in the darkness of night, searching for knowledge of the Art. The white belt student at this stage is anxious to get started yet fearful of failing.
